An invitation to a palace ball gives Ella hope that she might reunite with the dashing stranger (Richard Madden) she met in the woods, but her stepmother prevents her from going. Review
Its more glittery than I remember
The true star of the movie was none other than the glass slippers which is odd because I thought that the movie was all about cindrella a poor little girl tortured and made slave out of her whole life til they day she met the prince charming and became his queen.
The movie took a different approach for the movie but somehow in my opinion failed to charm the audience as one would expect a cindrella movie to.
But amidst all it was Cate Blanchet as the wicked step mother that shined in her performance. I felt in the entire movie, the screen burned bright with both her acting and fantastic costumes. I think Cate Blanchet was one of the best wicked step mother version I have seen. Her presence in the movie was so captivating that she snatched away all the eyes and admiration.
Both Lily James and Richard Madden kind of faded away in the background in spite of having such a strong role to present themselves.
The whole point of the movie in the end remained to be just providing a visual treat whether it be the grand array of costumes or sets or the highly dramatized scene of fairy godmother getting our Cindrella ready for the Royal Ball
One of the awkward scenes in the movie for me was the ball itself especially the dance sequence. I felt it to be completely delirious on part of Lily James. She seemed to be more under the influence of hallucinatory product because she was behaving and dancing awkwardly
The movie kind of failed with me to be charming and a part of the cindrella story. It failed to bring back the magic of the classic fairy tale but in spite of all this Cate Blanchet was the true star of the movie and if one wishes to see this movie, then should do for her performance.
Yeah! I agree with you I had expected this movie to be charming too but it isn’t captivating.And I totally loved the gown it’s really gorgeous 😀
