Rating: 5/5

A great step ahead of Divergent

For those who were probably confused and left in a state of confusion over the dystopian world created by Veronica Roth in Divergent will find their answers in this sequel, Insurgent. While we got a bit of idea about two of the factions in Divergent, Insurgent shows us the mysteries and lifestyles of other factions and thus somewhat gives us a more perspective on these factions and the base of the book.

What I loved about the book is the flow and narration and the ability to capture your full concentration. While divergent was good enough, Insurgent definitely has taken it to a different level and after hearing many of them saying that the sequel to insurgent and third book in the series, Allegiant to be a disaster, I would definitely say that second book is the best in the series though I m still to read allegiant.

The book picks smartly from the end of the first book and there is no evident break in the plot and thereby grabs you instantly to the world of faction like you never left it before. The journey and the whole plot of human survival takes on a new form in this book at the meanwhile clarifying and giving more explanation to this dystopian world

Though I love the book, the one thing that haunts me is definitely the character of Beatrice Prior or Tris who just as from first book is still a dwindling character and the second book just messes it more. Out of all the characters in the book, it is her character that I m short of describing as sometimes she seems nice and powerful and as you turn page she becomes mean and pompous…I m confused as to where exactly her character stands. There are points where the behavioural pattern just makes you wonder about the person you are reading about. In certain chapters you are like “atta girl” and on next you like “why would you do that” and then there are points where you can’t stop asking “who are you?”

The book is a perfect continuation to divergent and if not , things get a lot clearer and story just gets more action and thrills in this second book of divergent series.
